"Baiser Christbaumschmuck"
(Meringue Christmas Tree Decorations)
Ingredients:
150 g powdered sugar
3 egg whites
food color of your choice
decorations of your choice
Put aluminum foil on 2-3 cookie sheets.
Preheat oven to 212 F or 100 C
Sift powdered sugar. Whip egg whites stiff and slowly add powdered sugar while still mixing on slower speed.
Split into different bowls and add food color of you choice and slowly mix with fork.
Scoop colored egg foam in small zip log and cut small opening in corner, spritz on aluminum foil, make sure you always have a hole to later add ribbon for hanging. (You may also use the professional bag with the different plastic heads to make more elaborate looking shapes.
Decorate the way you like.
Put sheets in oven for about 3 hours at 212 F. Put wood spoon in corner of oven door so moisture can escape. Carefully peel of foil and hang on tree or simply eat.
I had a much more sophisticated look in mind, but my children decided to do it all themselves, so they are way too covered in colored sprinkles and way to neon colored. But it was a fun kid activity.
Note:
Some recipes will use the metric system, others I may took the time to convert them or they are listed in both.
If you need to convert the grams, milliliters etc. to spoons, cups, pints, ounces being US, UK, AU or any other odd measuring amount, do not worry about 100 % absolutes. Being close is usually just fine.
Below is a link to a converter web page I like to use. But there are plenty more sites out there to pick from.
