Frikadellen are thick patties where various base foods are used to make them, like for example fish, beef, vegetable. They are made by forming a ball and then squeezing it slightly flat, but still leaving it about 1" plus high, so not at all like a burger. The cook at a lower temperature in the pan (a bit less than medium).

I used some left over white bread, but Kaiser rolls are just fine too.
Cover the whole bread with water! It needs to soak up so much that it falls apart.

This patty is about 1 inch thick. Traditionally it is served with potato salad as a side, which is not yet a favorite for the kids, so we used the mashed potatoes instead.
