"Linsensuppe mit Spaetzle und Seidenwuerstchen"
(Lintel soup with Spaetzle and sausages)
Recipe feeds 6-8
Ingredients: 1 lbs dry lintels
6 cups water
1 large chopped onion
1 cup of cut leek (optional)
a good hand full of the mini peeled carrots
Vienna Sausages (locally sold at the European Market
on the corner of Huntington St. and Clearwater)
smoked German Brats, smoked Polish sausages
(locally sold at Tempelmans)
May use any other sausage you like.
2 Beef stock concentrate cubes (by Knorr)
Directions: Pour all ingredients except the sausages in large pot and simmer for 60-90 min.
until lintels are tender, add sausages and simmer another 20 minutes. Done!
Serve with rolls or noodles. In my house we serve this dish with Spaetzle (see photo below), which can be purchased at special food stores and only need to be cooked like any other noodle. I mostly make them myself, but that will be another recipe.
Guten Appetit!
