"Streuselschnitten mit Pudding und Apfelmus"
(Streusel cake with pudding and applesauce)
Ingredients:
500 gr flour
200 gr finely ground almonds
450 gr butter (I use 4 sticks, which turns out just fine)
250 gr sugar
1 pinch salt
1 tsp. vanilla sugar
2 cups cold vanilla pudding (500 ml)
2 + 1/2 cup applesauce (unsweetened) or 750 gr
Preheat oven to 300F or 175C.
Directions:
Make Streusel with all ingredients in first paragraph.
Make 2 cups of vanilla pudding according to package (cold) or use 2 packages of vanilla pudding cake creme (cold). So you need the pudding powder and 2 cups of milk or 500 ml.
If the package asks for sugar to be added, use lesser than it states, about half is sufficient.
Grease rimmed cookie sheet (about 32 x 39 cm or 12 x 15 inches) and spread 2/3 of Streusel on the cookie sheet and press flat with hands.
Spread pudding on top then spread applesauce on top of pudding base using a tablespoon at a time and lightly even the applesauce out over the pudding. Then spread the remainder of the streusel on top of the applesauce.
Bake for 1 hour on second shelf from bottom. Let cool, serve with fresh whipped cream or just as is.
You will get about 25-30 pieces out of this sheet. I did freeze some of it. Each piece is about 300 calories depending on size.
(Note: This cake is going to be only about 1 inch tall, but it is really good.)
Enjoy!

The cake is only as high as the rim of the cookie sheet, about half of an inch. Left it shows the dough, pudding layer on top the apple sauce (darker yellow) and the dough crumbles on top.
Note:
Some recipes will use the metric system, others I may took the time to convert them or they are listed in both.
If you need to convert the grams, milliliters etc. to spoons, cups, pints, ounces being US, UK, AU or any other odd measuring amount, do not worry about 100 % absolutes. Being close is usually just fine. Above is a link to a converter web page I like to use. But there are plenty more sites out there to pick from.
